The Beanie Boos for Syrian Children fundraiser, organized by 10-year-old Burlington resident Eleeza Rafiq, has collected 300 stuffed animals.

Through funds donated by family, friends and Burlington residents, Eleeza was able to raise approximately $1,300 to purchase Beanie Boos to be distributed to Syrian refugee children upon their arrival in Toronto through various organizations.

“We are also hoping to get the word out there that if there are private sponsorships in Burlington, we would be happy to get some toys over to them to distribute to their sponsored families,” said Eleeza’s mom, Sehr. “We would like to hand out a portion of them in the Burlington community so if there are local organizations, we would be interested in hearing from them also.” To contact the family, email [email protected].
