Four local charitable organisations – Qatar Charity (QC), Qatar Red Crescent (QRC), Sheikh Eid bin Mohamed al-Thani Charitable Association (Eid Charity) and Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) – have received financial donations from Qatar Petroleum (QP) staff for beneficiaries in Syria, the Philippines and Somalia. The charitable organisations received three cheques each, representing the donations of QP staff for Syrian refugees, who continuously need assistance as the crisis drags on, as well as for typhoon and cyclone victims in the Philippines and Somalia. The total donations of QP staff amounted to QR1,293,725. This was gathered from three internal donation campaigns, which ran from November 2013 to June 2014. The cheque donations were handed over on behalf of all QP employees by Abdulrahman Abdulla al-Obaidly, manager of Public Relations and Communications at QP, in a ceremony attended by other QP officials and representatives from the four charitable organisations. The cheques were received by Saad Shaheen al-Kaabi, director of Resources Mobilisation & Investments at QRC; Issa Mohamed al-Ishaq, head of Investment at QRC; Abdulnasser Mohamed al-Yafei, executive director of Collections and Branches at QC; Khalid Ahmad Fakhroo, Top Donors Relations officer at QC; Meteb Saeed al-Marri, executive manager for the Support Services Sector at Eid Charity; and Ali Yousef al-Kuwari, director of Public Relations at RAF. The funds will be used by the four charitable organisations in their ongoing medical missions and humanitarian work in partnership with their counterparts in the three affected countries.
