Lebanese army raids refugee camps, arrests 53 Syrians

Fifty-three Syrians were arrested during a raid on refugees camp in Zahle, the army said Sunday.

Soldiers carried out inspections of a Syrian refugee camps in the Zahle town of Barr Elias beginning 5 a.m. Saturday, the army said in a statement.

Three Syrians were arrested on suspicion of having links to terrorist groups.

Thirty-eight others were arrested for having expired official documents, while 12 were apprehended for entering Lebanese territory illegally.

Soldiers also seized a rifle and 40 unregistered motorcycles during Saturday’s raids.
