Under the title «Best Friend is a book», the first book fair was opened in Afrin, north of Aleppo, Syria, on Saturday. The fair was a result of cooperation between “Bahar” center for training and capacity development, and “Dar Lovan” for publishing.
The exhibition includes 2,000 title varies between cultural, historical and human development, poetry, literature, political, international and Arab novels, dictionaries, religious books, studies, cooking, sex education, herbal medicine, children’s books and some Kurdish books.
The reason for the low number of Kurdish books was due to the difficulties of delivering them to Afrin and their high price, as explained by “Daniel Habash”, Dar Lovan’s Director. He added, the aim of the exhibition is to encourage the youth to read because we live in the era of technology and social network pages, unfortunately, fewer reader, when we want to learn about people we learn first from their culture.
Only with a book, I get to know the world and myself. He concluded.
